mysteries

I have been attending to some of my war wounds from my surgery--now, thankfully, mainly healed--and I find I have a few resounding questions.

Like: Why is there a large band aid on my thigh? The tumor was in my brain, not my thigh. As far as I can tell, the band aid isn't actually staunching bloodflow or anything one might normally expect a band aid to do. So why, exactly, is it there?

I've just peeled the thing off me and as far as I can tell no body parts seem to be falling off. So I guess it's okay. But it's still a mystery.

When I was in labor, I ended up swearing quite a bit in English and then supposedly apologized in Japanese, and somehow ended up with two gowns on. I was told afterward that I asked for the second gown because my arms hurt. No idea, really. Perhaps you "needed" it for some reason only you knew! :)

Maybe they went the long way round.

Haha! It's kind of freaky, thinking about what may have happened in there. I keep remembering this scene in "Master and Commander" where everyone wants to come in and look at the brain exposed in surgery. Did they touch it in the movie? I can't remember now. I've watched that movie several times since getting out of the hospital, and I find it so life-affirming and wonderful.

I keep all my band aids on my thigh. It is just the best place to hang them when I'm not using them.

Catheter? M&C is one of my favorite movies. I like that you liked it. No one touched the brain in the movie. lol.
