FOCC

Part of my father's treatment plan for me is an anticancer diet designed by the German chemist and pharmacologist Johanna Budwig. A clinician practicing in Germany, Budwig devised a diet for cancer patients "rich in linolenic and linoleic acids, such as Flaxseed oil, low fat cottage cheese and vegetable juices," which she claimed would prevent cancer altogether and mitigate symptoms in current sufferers.

My dad is all on board with this. Every day he freshly grinds me a serving of flax seeds in a little grinder--the flax seeds must be freshly ground--and he mixes them with an appropriate compound, all carefully measured and proportioned, of cottage cheese, honey, and flax seed oil, which he then pours over blueberries and almonds. This is the stuff called FOCC.

Words fail to describe the horror that is FOCC.

The low point of my day--though also, perversely, the heroic part I kind of look forward to getting past--the FOCC treatments have come to define the scope of my progress toward health. Once I get them over with by midday, I can look forward to a nice cup of herbal tea and by nighttime, maybe a vodka.

Well, okay--vodka is not allowed. But red wine is. I'll take what little pleasures I can get.

Meantime, I do have to say that FOCC makes me feel surreally pure, as if perhaps my insides have been cleansed by this old world, basic foodstuff. I just wish it tasted better. There's something about it that hits that gag reflex every single time, without fail.

For now, I eat my FOCC while imagining myself somewhere in the Swiss Alps, being attended by pristine and starched Swiss nurses, slowly regathering my strength and my health.

So hey, think of me while y'all enjoy your beer and cheeseburgers.

Cheeseburgers.....mmmmmm.

So... FOCC is so good for us all, we all should eat it every day, forever (even if it's just to prevent cancer, right?). You sounds so... encouraging. *grins*

For me, the honey would be the problem. Can you post the exact recipe your dad uses? I want to give it a try.

Hi! Mariel from 602 here with some good news about Budwig! My mom is a Craneo-sacral therapist and eats this stuff every morning. I have never heard of this recipe your dad is giving you, but this is the one my mom has used to help cure her fibromyalgia and the recipe she gives to her patients. A friend of mine that has MS eats this everyday too and I think it's super tasty:

Instead of cottage cheese, use:
1. Box of Silken Tofu (that's the brand name) or Greek Yogurt.
2. 2 tablespoons of flax oil.
3. 2 tbs. of ground flax seeds.
4. 2 tbs. of millet (whole or ground)
5. Vanilla flavored Stevia to taste (Stevia is a natural sugar substitute that derives from a plant. They sell it at Henry's in a little glass bottle).
6. 1 whole lemon rind finely grated (limes are super tasty too)
7. Couple of slices of green apple chopped.
8. A few almonds or pecans.
9. Optional, extra: oatmeal or buckwheat to taste.

*Smoosh the tofu with a fork, mix in all the other ingredients and keep smooshing until it's nice and blended.

This stuff tastes almos like Key lime Pie. I swear. Great to hear you're staying positive!
