The Lost Day

I've been utterly useless for the past six hours or so as I read the latest Harry Potter installment from end to end. But no spoilers here! I'll just say that I think J.K. Rowling is a genius and I just wish I could write like that.

It's kind of a pity that I felt I had to read this one straight through, since it's the last book and all. Originally I'd planned to savor it and make it last. But I was so afraid of having the ending spoiled for myself that I had to read it straight.

Major pity. Sometimes I hate people.

But now I'm ready to reenter the world. It will be nice to read the news again, too.

Harry was a horcrux! I feel vindicated! So many people treated me like Cybil when I prophesied that!

Horcrux? What? I haven't read it yet... darnit! :) Actually, I haven't read past #4. I have to order them from amazon.co.uk. I prefer the British versions, and I would rather my daughter read the "right" words (inasmuch as the story does take place in some fantastical portion of the UK) for things, rather than their Americanized counterparts. [Insert frothy rant about the dumbing down of education/literature/interpersonal relationships/the legal system/etc. in the US these days]

I remember when Jetta said Harry was a horcrux in Arthurian Lit. I thought about that when I finished the book at 4 this morning. Then I went to sleep.
