beautiful day

This is me today. Check it out! Hair styling! Make-up! Well, at least you all know my priorities.

So my progress continues: I walk without support; I can do many of the exercises I used to do before I became necrotic. Perhaps I shouldn't say that anymore--the truth is, I don't feel necrotic anymore. I feel flippin' great--better than I did before this happened to me. I'm typing better and faster. I'm remembering sequences--I actually did a Sudoku puzzle yesterday. I did the LA Times Crossword. My balance is better--I can now balance briefly on one leg.

And I'm making plans. I can't wait to come back to school; I'm trying to think of different ways to do things and to teach. I'm all on board for podcasts and everything else you can think of through technology--the possibilities are endless, and there are a lot of new topics I want to work up.

Stay tuned!

You're gorgeous!!!

I've been wondering if you might consider presenting a paper on your blog at the conference next summer. While our official abstract deadline has passed, we won't be constructing our program for several months yet, and Anne and I would be thrilled to hold a place open for whatever presentation you'd like to make. You're certainly our undisputed local expert on literature and technology, and so it seems a shame not to showcase your exciting work. Anyway, it's something to think about, if you don't have other plans for early July.

Of course, more info is at:

Three cheers for you, Laurel!

So happy to hear about your amazing progress. I only hope the rest of us can learn to reap such productive insights from calamity.

Laurel, you look wonderful in that picture. Here I thought you'd be all peaked and wan and languishing. But instead you're radiating vitality. (And just a touch of the gypsy fortune teller--which I think works pretty well for a high-tech medievalist.)
