piggy, piggy

I've always had a thing for piggies, ever since reading one of L. Frank Baum's Oz books as a kid. I can't remember the name now, but the story involves Dorothy finding a way back to Oz and running into an odd character who does a little magic trick by seemingly shoving two miniature piglets together and squishing them into one.

I saw the Swine Races at the Del Mar Fair this year--definitely worth seeing next year, if you missed it this time. They open the gate and these incredibly fast, squealing little piggies go zooming around a little track. It's hilarious. And of course I should not forget mentioning Wilma the Pig, an enormous Vietnamese Potbelly who was so happy to see me whenever I came walking near her home that she'd shove over the fence and dash over to come with me.

I didn't really like her rubbing up against me that much; she was a little spiny and big enough to bowl me over. But still, it was very touching.

Anyway, these little piggies apparently paint. You can see the story here, if you're interested.
